CHILDCARE follow the slinky art-rock of Put Down Your Pen and the bold and brooding Big Man with the perception challenging skittish groove of Magazines – completing the set of singles taken from their new EP Luckyucker, both out today via Elephant Records.

"On the way to Hampstead Heath last year I noticed a Big Issue seller who looked different from normal; a well-spoken, middle aged, white and middle class woman” frontman Ed Cares explains, “This song is about the surprise of seeing someone from my tribe selling the magazine on the street, the realisation that any of us could end up there, and the guilt of feeling a particular sympathy towards her."

The track’s assertive tempo is driven constantly forward by Emma Topolski’s bass and Glyn Daniels’ brawny drums, before Rich Le Gate’s rivetingly discordant guitar slashes to the fore in a hypnotic freak out of a climax. The post-coital coda sees Ed sum up the track's message in an Oasis-like sing-along, beery and brash.

The group’s now oft recanted formation story remains a point of interest. It all started when Ed Cares, one of West London's most in-demand male nannies, was overheard humming a song he had written, by Katie, aged six, who persuaded him to form a band. Josh, eight, boldly proclaimed: "You're probably my second favourite artist after Katy Perry."

Their debut EP, ‘Made Simple’, released last year, earned them all sorts of tastemaker acclaim and national radio play with prestigious UK titles DIY, The Line of Best Fit, Wonderland and The 405 all tipping the group as one’s to watch.

With a sling of festivals including the legendary Reading and Leeds and a recent Radio 1 Maida Vale session tucked safely under their belts, the band’s vivid and visceral live show shouldn’t be missed.

By adding yet another stellar single to their oeuvre in Magazines, and following their acclaimed debut EP with Luckyucker, CHILDCARE look set to cement themselves as one of London’s most exciting emerging acts.

In support of the release of their Luckyucker EP the band will head out on a two week UK headline tour in October.

CHILDCARE are Ed Cares (vocals) Emma Topolski (Bass, Vocals), Rich Le Gate (Guitar, Backing Vocals) and Glyn Daniels (Drums, Backing Vocals) and their Luckyucker EP was produced by Mr BJ Jackson and is out July 13th via Elephant Records
