James Bay new video and new tour dates
27 March 2018
James Bay has shared the music video for his new single “Pink Lemonade” today. The single is the latest track to be unveiled from Bay’s much anticipated second full-length album, Electric Light, the follow up to his internationally acclaimed, multi-million selling, BRIT and Ivor-winning, triple GRAMMY® nominated debut, Chaos & The Calm, which will be released on 18th May.
“Making the Pink Lemonade video is probably the most fun I’ve ever had making a music video. From that diamond encrusted top to building my own spaceship, I’m not sure making a video will ever get any better.” says Bay
On the video’s concept, which Bay created & designed, he says, “The inspiration behind the video comes from the theme of ‘escape’ that runs through the song. I was reminded of a time when I was about 4 years old and I told my parents I’d had enough of living with them and would be leaving home. Obviously, I never went through with it. But the drama of filling a pillow case with my most essential toys, opening the backdoor and announcing to the kitchen that it was time for me to leave is what gave me the idea for the video. I adapted it to add the spaceship part because I thought it would look better than a pillow case. I wanted to do something that felt serious but silly at the same time.”
Heralding the release of Electric Light, Bay made an electrifying debut in the U.S on Saturday Night Live. Watch these unforgettable performances of “Wild Love” and “Pink Lemonade.”
In addition, Bay recently released full details for his global Electric Light Tour. The first North American portion of the tour kicked off yesterday in Seattle and Bay will return to the UK in May for a sold out run that includes a show at The Roundhouse on 29th May. Full itinerary below.
Composed in East London’s Baltic Studios, Bay co-wrote and co-produced Electric Light with longtime friend and collaborator Jon Green and brought onboard Paul Epworth [Adele, Florence and The Machine] to add final production elements to the record. Released on February 8th, single “Wild Love” has already reached 10 million Spotify streams and counting in addition to racking up nearly 4 million views from its official music video co-starring Natalia Dyer of Stranger Things.
