Eagles have played their first show since the death of founding member Glenn Frey.

Replacing Glenn was country superstar Vince Gill and Glenn’s son Deacon. Bob Seger, co-writer of one of the band’s biggest hits ‘Heartache Tonight’ also joined the band to perform the song he helped write with Frey.

Glenn’s vocals were divvied up between Vince and Deacon. Deacon sang his father’s ‘Take It Easy’, ‘Peaceful Easy Feeling’ and ‘Already Gone’. Gill was upfront for ‘Take It To The Limit’, ‘Tequila Sunrise’, ‘Lyin’ Eyes’ and ‘New Kid In Town’.

The only remaining founding member Don Henley put his epic ‘The Last Resort’ back in the set for the first time since 2011.

Timothy B. Schmit, the late comer to the band joining at the end for ‘The Long Run’ sang his classics ‘’I Can’t Tell You Why’ from ‘The Long Run and ‘Love Will Keep Us Alive’, from ’94 when the band returned for ‘Hell Freezes Over’.

Joe Walsh is Eagles Rock Star. He reinvented the band as a rock band when he joined for ‘Hotel California’ but brought along his own classics ‘Funk #49’ and ‘Rocky Mountain Way’.

The legacy of the band is now carried by Don Henley, one of the greatest songwriters and voices of our generation.

The show in California this past weekend proved Eagles are still very much and one-going entity. This band has survived members leaving, a bitter break-up and the death of a founding member. Despite all that, they sound as relevant as ever in 2017.
