Every week, Music News and Liberty Music look at the best new releases from emerging and self-releasing artists.

This week we have a mix of quality singles from some of the best upcoming artists in synth pop and indie rock styles.

Born Stranger – Cheating Love (Feat. Caitlyn Scarlett)

‘Cheating Love’ bears many of the signature sonics from Born Stranger's previous releases with glistening synth swells and hook ridden vocal samples. Both Born Stranger's Maddox-Jones and Caitlyn Scarlett's vocals contrast together to create an infectious duet, where the two act in a relationship and pick their brains on their commitment to each other. 'Cheating Love' seems like the perfect anti-love anthem and we’re hooked.

Sonny - Princess

‘Princess’ is the debut single from the emerging songwriter Sonny. Produced by Rum And Bug production team, ‘Princess’ showcases Sonny’s ability to amalgamate throwback and retro influences and create a beautifully fused modern soundscape of indie, folk, soul and R&B. At only 17, the potential from this artist is stunning and we can’t wait to hear more..

Vulgarians – Hands Around The Waste

‘Hands Around The Waste’ is the first single from the upcoming EP ‘Almost-Instinct, Almost True’ by Vulgarians, Hands Around The Waste’ is the finest example of Vulgarians’ musical and lyrical dynamic. Split down the middle in two contrasting demeanours, the song finds the humour in a taxi drivers’ dark stories, incongruously mixing monumental choruses with sparse verses.

Jake Alder – Chasin’ Time (Feat. LKA)

Jake Alder showcases an electro infused ballad in his latest single ‘Chasin’ Time’ and we’re intrigued by the spark between this track collaboration. With a powerfully dynamic vocal performance from LKA, Jake’s backing track of sparkling synth-work glues the whole together extremely well.

Joe Hicks – Best Clothes

Suited with clear blue skies in mind, Joe Hick’s latest single ‘Best Clothes’ is a slice of emphatic indie-pop splendour. With a blend of tasty funk guitar work and loose drum grooves, Joe Hicks may be one artist to keep a clear eye on in the future.
