2017 will see Scouting For Girls celebrating their 10 year anniversary, and to mark the occasion the band have partnered with Alzheimer’s Society for a year of exciting fundraising challenges.
The platinum selling pop band who had chart topping hits with their catchy anthems ‘She’s So Lovely’ and ‘Elvis Ain't Dead’ and many more, will be taking on a range of fun and adrenaline fuelled tasks throughout 2017, in a bid to raise vital funds for Alzheimer’s Society and awareness of dementia.
Band members Roy, Greg and Pete will be taking part in Dry January and the iconic London Marathon, which will be no mean feat for the boys, who have never run to any extent before.
The band’s lead singer, Roy Stride knows all too well the impact dementia has on the person and their loved ones, as his own mother lived with early onset dementia in the last years of her life.
Roy, who has also written songs for acts such as One Direction, 5 Seconds of Summer and Union J said: “Dementia is such a cruel disease and we will be dedicating 2017 to raising money for Alzheimer’s Society to help all those who are affected by it. It’s very hard watching someone you know living with dementia. Like me, my Mum always had such a love of music and it continued to bring her much joy throughout her life.
'We can’t wait to get back out there to celebrate our 10 year anniversary, play the songs and take on a year of fundraising challenges for Alzheimer’s Society. Although thinking of the London Marathon is already giving me and the guys sleepless nights!”
Michael Dent, Director of Fundraising at Alzheimer’s Society, said: “We are incredibly grateful that Scouting for Girls are joining forces with Alzheimer’s Society by dedicating 2017 to a range of fundraising challenges.
'Dementia is the leading cause of death and until we find a cure, we must ramp up fundraising to ensure people have access to the right support and services, as well as funding research into better care and treatments.
‘It’s wonderful that the band have chosen to mark their 10 year anniversary with us - we can’t wait to hear their music, and see how they get on with their challenges.”

Scouting For Girls will also be performing a special intimate gig for their fans at London’s Bush Hall on 14th February 2017, the same day the band signed their first record deal ten years ago. This will mark the first time that the band have played their debut album in full, and tickets will include limited edition souvenirs for each fan.
