Q Magazine, the UK’s greatest music magazine, tonight unveiled the nominations for the StubHub Q Awards in association with Absolute Radio, at a very special event at Camden’s, The Atrium. Q Magazine’s 26th award show is one of the most anticipated nights on the music calendar, and will be held at a brand new home at Camden’s Roundhouse on Wednesday 2 November. For the first time in its long-running history, the evening will also feature a live set, with The Charlatans recently revealed as the first band to be hand-picked to play the Awards.

Leading the nominations this yearare British band favourites Coldplay and The 1975, armed with four nominations each under their belt, including Q Best Album Presented by Absolute Radio and Q Best Act in the World Today Presented by the Cavern Club.

The prestigious Q Best Album Presented by Absolute Radio category will prove as tough as ever this year, with contenders including David Bowie and his posthumous number one album Blackstar, Coldplay’s huge A Head Full of Dreams album, Bastille’s sophomore smash Wild World, The 1975’s I Like It When You Sleep, for You Are Beautiful yet So Unaware of It… and French breakthrough sensation Christine and the Queens with the only debut in the running this year, Chaleur Humaine.

An event that consistently celebrates new and emerging artists, the Q Best Breakthrough Act Presented By Red Stripe category is teeming with fresh talent from a spectrum of genres. From the unstoppable Stockport success that is Blossoms to grime’s newest breakthrough Lady Leshurr, Christine and the Queens to hip-hop/rock crossover Rat Boy, no musical taste goes unrepresented. Let’s Eat Grandma, who performed a very special set at the nominations party at Camden’s The Atrium this evening, are also in the running following the release of their debut album this summer.

As the StubHub Q Awards celebrates its first ever live performance after the show from The Charlatans, the Q Best Live Act Presented by StubHub category pays homage to stadium heavyweights Coldplay and Muse, who face stiff competition from indie favourites Wolf Alice, Ireland legends U2 and post-punk rockers Savages.

Meanwhile, Beyoncé receives her first ever Q Awards nomination for Q Best Video presented by The Box Plus Network for ‘Formation’, from her stunning Lemonade album released earlier this year. She will go up against the likes of creative genius PJ Harvey, Wolf Alice, Superbowl 2016 comrades Coldplay and The 1975 for their ‘A Change of Heart’ video.

From now, the public can cast their votes and choose the winners for the following categories over at www.Qthemusic.com
– with voting closing on Monday 31 October:

· Q Best Track
· Q Best Video Presented by The Box Plus Network
· Q Best Album Presented by Absolute Radio
· Q Best Live Act Presented by StubHub
· Q Best Solo Artist Presented by Help Musicians UK
· Q Best Act in the World Today Presented by the Cavern Club

A number of highly-coveted merit awards will also be bestowed by Q magazine on the night. Designed to recognise career-spanning achievements, these will include the Q Classic Songwriter, the Q Classic Album, the Q Outstanding Contribution To Music, Q Hero and the Q Hall Of Fame Presented by StubHub.

Phil Alexander, Editor in Chief, Q Magazine, commented: “This year’s nominations are an accurate reflection of a fantastically diverse and hugely exciting year in music. Multiple nominations for the likes of The 1975, Christine and the Queens, Bastille and Wolf Alice underline the fact that there’s a new wave of intelligent, sophisticated rock acts out there that are enjoying success on a global basis. Seeing Skepta nominated in categories alongside the likes of Biffy Clyro, PJ Harvey and Noel Gallagher also demonstrates the broad church of music represented by Q right now. We look forward to celebrating all of this – and a whole lot more on the night itself.”
