Mariah Carey is officially returning to America's Hallmark Channel to develop, direct and star in three new films.

The superstar made her directorial debut in December (15) with Hallmark TV movie A Christmas Melody, starring Mean Girls actress Lacey Chabert. The film was met with mixed reviews, but premiered with 3.9 million viewers, making the festive release the network's most-watched holiday special.

Now Mariah is reuniting with Hallmark bosses to work on a trio of new projects over the next two years, and the Hero hitmaker has agreed to write and record an original song for each project, reports Deadline.com.

She will also serve as an executive producer on the films, with the first picture expected to debut early next year (17), as part of Hallmark's Countdown to Valentine's Day event.

"We are honoured to continue our collaboration with the multi-talented Mariah Carey," states Michelle Vicary, programming boss for parent company Crown Media Family Networks. "It's rare to work with a talent who can produce, direct, star and also compose original music for a project, and we know she will deliver for our viewers once again."

Mariah will have a busy few months ahead of her as she is currently promoting her forthcoming U.S. docu-series, Mariah's World, which will air on E! in June (16).

She is also in the midst of planning her wedding to Australian billionaire James Packer, after he proposed in January (16) following a whirlwind romance. The couple is reportedly set to tie the knot in a lavish ceremony on the island of Barbuda in the Caribbean.

Mariah, who was previously married to music mogul Tommy Mottola and rapper/actor Nick Cannon, has been keeping details about her big day a secret, but she shared a little information with fans during an appearance on U.S. news show Access Hollywood in February (16).

"(It's going to be) very private (and there won't be) tons of people," she divulged. "I'm most excited about the grandeur, darling. It's not gonna be a big wedding. But it's going to be grand."
