Late singer David Bowie's grieving widow Iman addressed the public through social media for the first time in weeks on Saturday (6Feb16).

The Ziggy Stardust musician passed away from liver cancer at the age of 69 in New York City at his Manhattan family home on 10 January (16) and he was cremated two days after his demise.

In the wake of Bowie's death, supermodel Iman has been out of the public eye, but she shared some encouraging words with fans over the weekend, writing on her Instagram account: "Love & Gratitude".

Iman, 60, seems to feel comfortable communicating via Instagram as she recovers from Bowie's death. Days after he died she published a meme onto the picture-sharing website which reads, "The struggle is real, but so is God", with a caption attached to the image stating, "Rise #imandaily".

Iman made her first public appearance since the rocker's death on Tuesday (02Feb16) and the runway icon seemed somber while taking her dog for a walk around the city's SoHo neighbourhood near the apartment she and Bowie resided in together with their daughter Alexandria 'Lexi'.

The couple was married for almost 24 years and the rocker left more than $100 million (£68.5 million) to his wife in his will.
The former catwalk superstar is "holding up" following her husband's death, according to longtime friend Bethann Hardison, who recently told People.com, "He's a great loss, not just a loss as an artist, but as a human."
A Bowie tribute, led by Lady Gaga, is being planned for the Grammy Awards on 15 February (16).
