Merle Haggard has been hospitalized with a case of pneumonia, causing the postponement of a few tour dates.

Haggard is prone to the illness after having part of a lung removed in cancer treatments. This is not the first time that he has been hospitalized and is expected to make a full recovery.

The following was posted on Facebook detailing the postponed shows:

Due to pneumonia, MERLE HAGGARD has checked into a CA hospital, forcing him to postpone his next few tour dates. Those shows include last night in Palm Desert, tonight in Riverside. Friday in Oakland and Saturday in Wendover. However, he hopes to be well enough to play his dates in Las Vegas, NV, Beverly Hills and Lemore, CA next week.
Stay tuned…

The first of two Las Vegas dates is scheduled for Monday (December 7).

Haggard is one of the icons of country music, especially that of southern California where he was credited with developing the Bakersfield Sound along with Buck Owens. He reached the Country Singles top ten 71 times including 38 number 1’s.
