Rita Ora was so devastated after her break up from DJ Calvin Harris in June 2014 following a year of dating that she prayed for her life to end.

The 24-year-old singer's relationship with 31-year-old Calvin came to a sudden end when the Summer singer is said to have called time on their romance.

The decision was a shock for Rita, and she admits she struggled to cope following the split.

Speaking to Wonderland magazine, Rita explained: “At the time… I just wanted to crawl in my bed and die," Rita told Wonderland magazine. "But I got out of it the other side, I’m surviving."

Rita is doing much more than just surviving as she has found success as a judge on British television talent show The X Factor and is working hard on a new record - her second studio album.

However, the end of her relationship from Calvin saw her new offering take a drastic turn in its tone.

But Rita is thrilled with the way it has turned out, and feels it reflects the new stage of her life.

“I kind of saw the light at the end of the tunnel and I just wanted to change the vibe of the whole album," Rita added. “It was initially a really lovey-dovey album because that’s where I was, but then I obviously didn’t feel like that.”

Rita maintains she was the one to end the romance. But she says it the release of their collaborative track I Will Never Let You Down in March 2014 that caused things to get messy.

"There was a reason why I split up with him," Rita said. "It was more of a thing where I was in awe. I was at that point in my relationship where I felt he could do no wrong.

“I thought he had my back and that he’d never steer me wrong. But then I Will Never Let You Down came out, and everything started to go a bit weird.

“I don’t know if it was because business was mixed with personal or what.”
