Adele feels like she's "on the edge" because she's so excited for Rihanna's upcoming album.
The British singer has just released her eagerly-anticipated third record, 25, but she's more focused on what the Barbados-born star is up to. Rihanna has confirmed her new LP will be called Anti, and although other details, such as its release date, are scarce at the moment she has announced a world tour in support of it too. It seems Adele will be first in line for tickets, as she's come out in full support of the 27-year-old singer.
"I am very excited Rihanna's new record," she told US talk show host Jimmy Fallon. "I am on the edge - in a good way. I'm the biggest Riri fan. I love her. So I'm very excited for that record."
This isn't the first time Adele has gushed about her fellow musician. During an interview with Rolling Stone magazine earlier in November (15), Adele cited Rihanna as someone she'd love to become friends with and even suggested she could create a Taylor Swift-style friend 'squad' involving the star. Taylor is famed for having a plethora of famous pals, including Selena Gomez, Gigi Hadid and Lena Dunham.
"I guess I have my own squad," Adele laughed. "It’s not as interesting as some of the other squads that are around right now. But maybe Rihanna can be in my squad! That would be really cool. Oh, God. She’s life itself, isn’t she? I love her.”
25 hit stores last Thursday (20Nov15) and it's already on course to smash sales records Stateside having sold at least 2.3 million, according to Nielsen Music. This is only the second time a record has surpassed two million since Nielsen Music began tracking sales in 1991, with 'N Sync's No Strings Attached debuting with just over 2.4 million in March 2000.
The record didn't come particularly easily to Adele though, with the star admitting she ditched a lot of tracks before settling on the final release. At one point she thought she had the album ready, but producer Rick Rubin dismissed them after insisting they weren't good enough. Adele is now pleased that happened, as she can see what he means.
"I didn't love the record," she explained to Jimmy Fallon. "(Those songs are) hiding, banished, not allowed, not good enough."
