Singer LeAnn Rimes thinks there's a stigma when it comes to stepmothers.

The 33-year-old star sent shockwaves through the industry when she split from husband Dean Sheremet in 2009 due to a romance with actor Eddie Cibrian. The couple fell in love on the set of TV movie Northern Lights when both were married; Eddie had tied the knot with Brandi Glanville in 2001 and has sons Mason and Jake with her. Brandi has hit out at LeAnn and her ex-spouse on numerous occasions, more so since their wedding in 2011, but LeAnn doesn't let the comments get to her.

"I ignore everything that (Brandi) puts up on Twitter," LeAnn told Britain's Closer magazine. "This is real life and it's not about Twitter or a reality show. This is our life and I take being a stepmom seriously. I love the boys like they're my own and they live with us half the time.

"There is a sad stigma when it comes to stepmoms and there is kind of this 'wicked stepmom' tag. There is no handbook. What it comes down to is that the kids are loved and cared for."

LeAnn has yet to welcome a child of her own, but the blonde beauty is optimistic it will happen when the time is right. For now, she's content with her role with her stepchildren and daydreaming about what her and Eddie's future offspring will look like.

"We both have those eyes that go away when we smile," the Can't Fight the Moonlight songstress giggled. "I used to hate my eyes as a kid and now I have a husband with the same ones - so maybe the baby will come out with those eyes too!"
