Lil Wayne is working on new music “every single day” in the studio.
The 32-year-old is currently embroiled in a multimillion dollar lawsuit against Cash Money, claiming the record label withheld money from the last two albums he made with them.
Fans have been waiting anxiously for the release of his new album Tha Carter V, but it’s unlikely they’ll be hearing those tracks very soon, as the LP is still looking for a home.
“I work every single day,” Lil Wayne told ESPN’s Cari Champion on her Be Honest podcast. “I’m in the studio every single day. I’m not working on any certain thing, I just be working. So for me to say this or that, I’d be lying. I do have Tha Carter V finished, though. What I am working on right now is a way, a deal, and a comfortable deal to put Tha Carter V out.”
Lil Wayne signed to Cash Money in 1998 but last December he took to Twitter to accuse the label and its CEO Bryan ‘Birdman’ Williams of refusing to release his new album. He went on to file his legal documents in January this year in New York where both Cash Money and Universal Music Group have offices.
During his Twitter rants in December, the Lollipop singer revealed how trapped he felt by his contract.
“I am a prisoner and so is my creativity,” he wrote. “Again, I am truly sorry and I don't blame ya if ya fed up with waiting for me and this album.(sic)"
The Grammy Award-winning musician’s last full LP I Am Not a Human Being II, his tenth studio album, was released in 2013.
