Bobbi Kristina Brown will need an autopsy to evaluate the cause of death.

The daughter of Bobby Brown and late singer Whitney Houston had been in a coma for almost six months after she was found unconscious in her bathtub in January.

Yesterday the 22-year-old passed away and today authorities are saying the reasons behind her tragic demise will need to be thoroughly investigated.

The Fulton County Medical Examiner's office issued a statement explaining it could be hard to draw conclusions due to the time between her being found and her death.

"Interpretation of autopsy findings and other information will also be challenging," the statement to Associated Press continued. "However, an autopsy could be helpful to address questions which may arise about the cause of her unresponsiveness and eventual death."

A police report describes Bobbi’s death as a drowning.

She was found face down in the bathtub of her home in Atlanta, Georgia, on January 31 and rushed to hospital, where she was put on life support. Last month she was moved to a hospice, which is where she passed away last night.

In a complicated case, complaints have also been filed against her boyfriend Nick Gordon, who was taken in by Whitney as a child and raised as Bobbi’s sibling.

Bobbi’s conservators accuse him of domestic violence and claim he physically attacked her on the night of January 31, the day when Bobbi had apparently arranged to meet a friend to discuss her future with Nick.

While he’s not directly been accused of causing the accident that led to Bobbi’s death, it’s heavily hinted at.
