The UK album chart has been inundated with Greatest Hits sets from veteran artists.

Ten out of the top 40, including two entries in the top ten, fall into the hits package category, at least if we stretch it just a bit to include AC/DC’s soundtrack to Iron Man 2 which contained a majority of their biggest hits.

In the top 40:

06. The Definitive Collection – Lionel Richie & the Commodores
07. The Very Best of Fleetwood Mac – Fleetwood Mac
16. Legend – Bob Marley & the Wailers
20. The Ultimate Collection – Paul Simon
22. Iron Man 2 – AC/DC
25. All-Time Greatest Hits – Neil Diamond
31. Greatest Hits – Bon Jovi
35. Greatest Hits – Guns N’ Roses
37. Greatest Hits – Foo Fighters
39. The Very Best of Glenn Miller – Glenn Miller
Plus, farther down the charts, are hits sets from the Who, Whitney Houston, Rod Stewart, ABBA, Michael Jackson, Eagles, Beatles, David Bowie, Phil Collins, Queen, Marvin Gaye and Oasis.
