Joni Mitchell is “still not speaking”, according to her dear friend David Crosby.

The 71-year-old legendary folk musician was rushed to hospital in Los Angeles on March 31, after being found unconscious at her home.

And her friend David of the band Crosby, Stills & Nash has provided an update on her health.

"To my knowledge, she is not speaking yet," the 73-year-old revealed during an interview with HuffPost Live. "She is home, she is in care, she is recovering."

David also disclosed Joni suffered an aneurysm, which is a bulging, weak area of an artery that gets filled with blood. When an aneurysm erupts in the brain, it oftentimes causes a stroke.

David knows his friend will have to fight to speak again.

"And nobody found her for awhile … she's going to have to struggle back from it the way you struggle back from a traumatic brain injury,” he noted.

But David has nothing but confidence Joni will make this happen.

He believes the Chelsea Morning crooner is an absolute trooper.

"She's a tough girl and very smart," David said. "So, how much she's going to come back and when, I don't know and I'm not going to guess. I love her. She's probably the best of us – probably the greatest living singer-songwriter."

In April, Joni’s representative posted a statement on the singer’s website which shared a similarly hopeful prognosis on her health.

“A full recovery is expected,” the blog statement read. “As we all know, Joni is a strong-willed woman and is nowhere near giving up the fight. Please continue to keep Joni in your thoughts. You may add your well wishes for her at the website WeLoveYouJoni.com.”
