Noel Gallagher has responded to Paul McCartney’s comment that Oasis should reform but challenging the former Beatle to write their comeback song.

During an interview with Lyndsey Parker for Yahoo Gallagher’s reply to McCartney’s comment was “tell him if he writes our comeback single, it’s on. Tell him to write an Oasis track and then we’ll talk. I’ll just put that out there”.

Two weeks ago McCartney said, “Like many brothers, they are crazy. But it would be nice if they got together. My advice to them? Just get together and make some good music! But they have got to want to do it. I think a lot of people would like them to do that”.

Gallagher told Parker, “We could sit and debate and you could throw reasons at me, but musically, what would I want to do that for? I’m not really interested in what fans want. I’m not bothered about that. If you didn’t see us [before], then you didn’t see us. I’ve never seen Nirvana. So fucking what? The world’s not gonna end. Lots of people never saw the Beatles or the Sex Pistols, and it didn’t make a fucking bit of difference to music, do you know what I mean? I wouldn’t do it. I don’t need it for the glory; I get enough of that. I don’t need the money. I don’t need the fucking hassle”.

Oasis broke up in 2009. Their last show was August 22, 2009 at the V Festival in Staffordshire, UK. They split six days later.

The last song Oasis ever played live as a band was a cover of The Beatles ‘I Am The Walrus’.
