Bruce Springsteen joined The Who for a couple of classics live this week.

Springsteen presented the Stevie Ray Vaughan Award for charity to Pete Townshend on Thursday (May 28, 2015) during a MusiCares benefit concert in New York City.

Bruce told the audience that he was “a pimply faced teenager” when he first saw The Who in 1967. He added that “The Who were young pimply-faced teenagers” as well.

Even back then Pete Townshend did his signature guitar smash at the show. “All I knew, for some reason, this music and the demolishing of all these perfectly fine instruments filled me with incredible joy and I never looked back,” Springsteen said.

He called Townshend “the greatest rhythm guitarist of all time”.
