Billy Joel is set to become a dad for the second time.
The 65-year-old rock icon welcomed his first daughter Alexa with his then-wife Christie Brinkley back in 1985. Now he has confirmed he’s expecting another child almost 30 years later - with girlfriend Alexis Roderick.
“Billy Joel and his girlfriend, Alexis Roderick, are expecting their first child this summer,” a statement on behalf of the star revealed.
“The singer has one daughter, singer/songwriter Alexa Ray Joel. The couple, together since 2009, opted to keep any further details of her pregnancy under wraps until their new addition makes an official debut.”
The official confirmation followed a report by RadarOnline that the couple were having a child. The gossip website claimed to reveal the name and gender.
“They want to call the baby Madison,” an insider told the outlet. “It’s a girl!”
Alexis is 33 years old and previously worked as a financial advisor for Morgan Stanley, according to the site. She and the Piano Man singer have apparently committed to one another, with US publication the National Enquirer reporting he gave her a diamond ring two years ago.
“There are lots of family photos with Alexis and her growing belly,” the source claimed prior to Billy’s statement.
“Those closest to them have seen photos of the sonogram and a pregnant Alexis and with Billy’s mum.”
Apparently Alexis is keeping a low profile as she prepares to welcome her child. The insider has said she’s rarely left the house and sports maternity wear to shield her growing belly.
“She doesn’t leave the house too often because she doesn¹t want anyone to know. And she wears big dresses to cover it up,” they said.
Billy has been married three times before, prior to meeting Alexis. Elizabeth Weber Small was his first wife in 1973, followed by model Christie in 1985, then 23-year-old Katie Lee in 2004 when he was 55. The couple split in 2009 after five years of marriage.
