Justin Bieber would like to meet a girl he “can lean on”.

The Canadian singer had a tumultuous year in 2014 which along with brushes with the law, also included his on-off relationship with Selena Gomez. The pair have officially parted ways, and in recent months, Justin has been trying to clean up his image and right his wrongs. It means the 21-year-old hasn’t got time for romance right now, but he knows what he wants from love eventually.

“At this point in my life I'm so focused on myself that I'm not looking for a girlfriend,” he told USA Today. “I'm just trying to make sure I'm 100 percent so I can add to the person I want to be with. I want a girl I can trust, who I can lean on. This business is hard, and I want someone I can confide in.”

The Baby singer’s music was overshadowed by his law breaking last year, from driving without a license to being ordered to carry out community service after egging a neighbour’s house. While the star has now seen the error of his ways, he believes his experiences were all part of the growing process.

“I had to see the downs to appreciate the ups, and know what I want. I'm the type of person who has to learn the hard way. Sometimes I just have to see what it feels like,” he admitted. “But I got to the point where I wasn't happy, I wasn't who I wanted to be. Now, I'm around some pretty awesome people who are supporting me and have my back. So that's pretty cool.”

This wasn’t always the case, however, and so Justin has had to take a hard look at who his real friends and supporters are.

“I left a lot of people behind who weren't on the same journey I was on, and I've got a lot of new people in my life who are pouring into me, and not taking away from me,” he added.
