Nicole Scherzinger was reportedly hoping for a Valentine's Day proposal from Lewis Hamilton.
The former Pussycat Doll and Formula One whizz dated on and off for seven years before splitting for good earlier this month.
It's thought the 36-year-old beauty was eager to settle down with her beau and start a family, but upon discovering Lewis had no desire to do the same, Nicole apparently ended it once more.
"After Lewis failed to propose at Christmas, Nicole put all her hopes on a Valentine's engagement. But after she was told by a mutual pal that Lewis hadn't bought a ring and wasn't planning to pop the question, she knew she had to end it," an insider told British magazine Closer. "She told friends she'd given him so many ultimatums to propose, and when they split last week, she told him: 'You won't get me back now.'"
Nicole, who finished her West End run as Grizabella in the musical Cats last weekend, has opened up about the breakup since. She admitted she's "devastated" things didn't work out and that they still deeply love each other.
It was hard for the couple to spend time together, with Nicole splitting her time between London, UK, and her home in Los Angeles, while Lewis is predominantly based in Monaco when he isn't racing. Despite Nicole offering to relocate, it wasn't enough to save their relationship.
"The long distance really affected things, and while Nicole was happy to slow down her career for a family, Lewis wasn't," the insider sighed. "She told her friends she was willing to move to Monaco and start a family there, but he wouldn't make the ultimate commitment to her."
