Common is after a best actor Oscar nomination.
The rapper will be at this year's Academy Awards thanks to his track Glory from movie Selma, which has been nominated for best original song Oscar. The song also features the vocal talents of John Legend.
While Common is no stranger to music events, he's now also a regular at film industry dos.
"They're definitely places I've never been. I've never performed on the Grammy stage, never even attended the Oscars, so to be Oscar-nominated and performing there, it doesn't get any greater than that," he beamed to Details magazine.
"Someday I hope to be nominated as an actor, too, but right now, I'm in this moment. I'm extremely grateful."
Glory has already taken home the top prize at the Golden Globes, and Common and John now have their eyes firmly on the Oscar prize.
However the night has a lot to live up to, with the 42-year-old lyricist being particularly blown away when Prince handed him the Golden Globe.
"One of the greatest times of my life. Like, Prince gave us the Golden Globe. I don't know. I can't even... That night, we were walking around like there was nothing that could bring us down, just on a high," he smiled.
The bubble was burst slightly though by the fact Selma director Ava DuVernay and lead actor David Oyelowo, who portrays civil rights activist Martin Luther King Jr., were overlooked when it came to taking home a prize.
"I obviously wanted Ava DuVernay and David Oyelowo to win, so that did give me a little bit of disappointment, but we were just feeling so great about winning," he explained.
