Zooey Deschanel is pregnant.
The New Girl star is currently dating Jacob Pechenik and now they are starting their own little family.
She confirmed the happy news to People magazine today.
“Jacob and I are over the moon. We are so excited to meet our little one,” she told the outlet.
Zooey, 34, has been dating the 42-year-old producer since mid-2014.
And their little one will grow up with plenty of playmates. Her older sister Emily, 38, who stars in TV show Bones, already has three-year-old son Henry with her husband David Hornsby and the couple are currently expecting their second child.
Zooey was previously married to musician Ben Gibbard, but their divorce was finalised in 2012. Following her nuptials, the star was pestered about whether she desired children. It's something she's never been in any rush to do.
“When I was married, that was the first thing people wanted to know. Like every woman is dying to give birth!" she previously said in an interview.
"I don’t think so. Nobody asks a guy that. And you go into a supermarket and every tabloid is like, ‘Pregnant and Alone!’ Stuck in this 1950s ideal of how a woman should live her life. That’s not something that defines me at all.'”
The star, who's had success in TV, movies and also with her band She & Him, has always been focused on work in the past.
"[Having kids has] never been my focus. My sister was always very motherly, babysitting and stuff. I like kids, and I like being around kids — but it was never an ambition, something, like, I need… I like working. That's what I like doing. I like to work," she previously told Marie Claire
