Taylor Swift had the biggest selling album of 2014 in the USA with ‘1989’ clocking up sales of 3,661,000 units.

According to Nielsen Music, Swift’s album was also a physical hit in America with 2,252,000 Taylor fans purchasing ‘1989’ on CD compared to 1,409,000 people who bought the album via digital download.

‘Frozen’ was the second biggest seller of the year in America followed by new UK artist Sam Smith who sold 1,207,000 copies of his album ‘In The Lonely Hour’ in the USA.
