Timbaland has accused Lifetime executives of “disrespecting” Aaliyah with their new biopic.
The music producer worked closely with the late R&B singer before her tragic 2001 death.
He’s made his displeasure about a new project at the US network known.
And in a series of Instagram posts at the weekend, Timbaland took to task those responsible for producing Aaliyah: The Princess Of R&B, starring Alexandra Shipp in the title role.
“Lifetime disrespects Aaliyah,” read an image posted on the photo-sharing app Sunday.
The post came a few hours after Timbaland promised Lifetime would have to “deal with the consequences” of releasing the film Saturday evening.
“This is why people should never remake movies. Bullsh*t happens. Bullsh*t happens,” he said in a video post on Instagram. “Now you have to deal with the consequences…”
“People! Thanks for the comments tonight on that bullsh*t Aaliyah movie. They have felt Timbo’s wrath tonight baby. And that’s it,” he promised in another clip.
“This sh*t has been funny tonight. Very funny ya’ll,” he added, admitting he wouldn’t be watching the movie.
“A lot of people keep asking me if I’m watching that bullsh*t. Evidently not. No way. Not Timbo,” he said.
Aaliyah was killed in a plane crash in The Bahamas after filming the music video for Rock the Boat.
She was 22.
