Chris Brown thinks the Ebola outbreak is "a form of population control".

The virus has been causing concern with an initial outbreak in Africa making its way to Europe and America after travellers were infected.

Now the 25-year-old musician has taken to Twitter to voice his controversial theory.

"I don't know ... But I think this Ebola epidemic is a form of population control. Sh*t is getting crazy bruh. (sic)," he commented on the social networking site.

His statement was re-tweeted almost 8,500 times and racked up almost 7,000 favourites. It seemed many followers shared his view, with fans reacting by saying how "scary" the outbreak is.

However, he later seemed to think better of his post, adding: "Let me shut my black ass up! (sic)"

Chris is currently making a comeback to the music scene after spending time in jail and rehab. He's busy promoting his new album X and is glad his time behind bars gave him a chance to reflect.

"A guard wakes you up; you eat. You stay in your cell most of the time, basically 24 hours a day,” he told Billboard. “Maybe on Mondays you go to the roof inside of a cage and have a phone call. It’s isolation. You have time to focus on what matters, on what to do and what not to do.

"You know, jail isn’t a place of many creative spirits. But as far as my creativity, I put it on hold until I got out. Jail is more of a regimen and a structure. I’m more of a free spirit when it comes to creating music, painting and art.”
