Eleanor Rigby £1M statue

Eleanor Rigby, the subject of Paul McCartney’s Beatle hit of 1966 has been immortalised in old, no longer used bank notes. £1m to be exact.

The work by sculptor Leonard Brown was unveiled at the Museum of Liverpool this week.

The concept of the stature is to create a link between the rich and the poor with McCartney’s poverty stricken character made out of the unused fortune.

Paul McCartney wrote Eleanor Rigby about people in the world who have no-one.

This is the second Eleanor Rigby statue unveiled in Liverpool. Tommy Steele designed a statue for the city in 1981. That statue is on display near Mathew Street, Liverpool, the birthplace of The Beatles.
