Nicki Minaj says the dancer bitten by a snake ahead of her VMA performance is “a trooper”.

The rapper took the stage to spit her hit track Anaconda at the 2014 Video Music Awards at The Forum in Inglewood, California Sunday night.

But the performance hit a snag when a six-foot-long snake bit a dancer during a run-through, according to TMZ.

Although Nicki acknowledged her show would have been better if the live snake hadn’t been ditched before the performance, the star has nothing but kind words for the dancer, who she says still managed to take the stage.

“She’s fine and she performed today. She’s a trooper and I love her,” Nicki said in a video published by the outlet Monday.
The snake ordeal wasn’t the only hiccup in Nicki’s set, however.

The rapper had a quick costume change before she reappeared with Jessie J and Ariana Grande to perform their hit single Bang Bang.

But Nicki was forced to spend most of her time on stage trying to hold her dress together after the top split during the performance.

Nicki later told The Hollywood Reporter she "ran out of time getting zipped up" backstage and had to make it work.

While various reports suggested the stunt was staged, the star took to Instagram late Sunday evening to explain.

“God is good. As long as a nipple didn't come out to play, I'm fine. Love my team. CASPER, Rushka, Adam, Oscar, Joyce, Gee... Many more to name but they're all winners! No weak links,” she captioned a photo of herself holding the front of her dress together.

“There's no greater feeling than having ppl who inspire u and who work passionately and relentlessly to get the job done. the myx is starting to make me feel real good right now thank u to Slim, Richelle, Katina and the entire REPUBLIC team (sic).”
