Lady Gaga imagines Amy Winehouse "singing the blues in heaven".
The British singer passed away in 2011 aged 27 from alcohol intoxication. Yesterday marked the three-year anniversary of her death and singer Gaga remembered her late friend on Twitter.
"Rest in Peace Amy Winehouse I'll always think about you, imagine u singing the blues in heaven in a happier place. I loved you and still do (sic)," she wrote on Twitter.
Gaga, 28, spoke touchingly about her friend shortly after her passing. She said hearing Amy had died "devastated" her.
"I’m a huge fan. She was my only hope when I was up and coming. Nobody knew who I was and I had no fans, no record label and everybody, when they met me, said I wasn’t pretty enough or that my voice was too low or strange. They had nowhere to put me," she opened up to Rolling Stone at the time.
"And then I saw her in Rolling Stone and I saw her live. I just remember thinking, ‘Well, they found somewhere to put Amy…
"She’s really special. She just gave me a lot of hope and she deserved a lot better than what people gave her. And I hope that the world learns a lesson from this. I really hope they do. Because it’s not her lesson to learn – it’s the world’s."
Yesterday Amy's father Mitch spoke out on the anniversary of her death, saying he still "senses" his daughter's presence.
