The Stranglers have signed a deal with EMI for a record that will be released in February next year, and marks the band's return to the label after nearly 25 years.

The band, whose hits include No More Heroes, Duchess, and Golden Brown tour the UK in November.

Bassist, JJ Burnel was quoted as saying the album would be "harder edged" than more recent material.

"It's called Norfolk Coast and the first single, Good Thing Coming, is out in January. It'll be no small feat for a bunch of old geezers like us," he said.

Norfolk Coast will feature Paul Roberts on vocals who joined the band in 1990. Original Stranglers lead singer Hugh Cornwell, left the band for a solo career.

He is currently in New York mixing a new record produced by Tony Visconti, who worked on several classic David Bowie albums.
