Pete Townshend called some Guardian online readers “c**ts” yesterday afternoon (that is the ones that post inane comments below his articles) at a press conference announcing The Who at 50 anniversary tour.
Members of the press gathered at Ronnie Scott’s to hear the welcome news and a fantastic acoustic 4 song set, which can be heard below.
It was during a short Q&A with the two legends afterwards that the outburst came. When asked by a Guardian journalist if we could expect any new material Pete commented “Can I comment on that, can I comment, like the c**ts that comment on the Guardian online?”.
“I’ve had to delete my piece now because of it." Continuing to paraphrase the comments he said "I don’t care what The Who do.....That Pete Townshend is he Islamic?”
The short outburst had the media in stiches and Pete went on to answer the question saying that The Who have 3 new tracks which they are going to record soon.Music-News.com was lucky enough to see the four song set and Q&A which is partly recorded below. Annoyingly the batteries ran our prior to the spat.
Check out the videos below. The acoustic tracks were:
The Kids Are Alright
Won't Get Fooled Again
