Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin reportedly feel they’ve had a “wake-up call” since announcing their split.

The 41-year-old actress revealed the couple had parted ways in a post on her lifestyle blog GOOP back in March, infamously declaring the decision a “conscious uncoupling”.

But UK newspaper The Mirror reports the revelation has done wonders for their relationship.

“It’s true they had problems but in the weirdest way this ‘conscious uncoupling’ situation has relieved the pressure on them,” the insider said. "Gwyneth had ground rules about not ¬immediately dating, respecting each other, keeping things happy for their two children and communicating throughout but it seems to have acted as a wake-up call.”

The actress and Coldplay frontman Chris have been seen together on numerous occasions since the split was announced, prompting rumours a reconciliation was in the works. A spokesperson for the couple dismissed the claims, insisting they were “still very much a family” and were actively co-parenting son Moses, eight, and daughter Apple, ten.

According to the insider, part of the reason the pair have remained so close is due to the intense scrutiny aimed at Gwyneth for her unorthodox way of defining their decision.

“Chris also felt super-protective about the flak and criticism levelled at Gwyn when it came out. He felt it was unfair and ¬uncalled for and he stepped in to make her feel better,” the insider said.

“He also put it out that a lot of the problems were down to him, not her – I guess that also added to him standing by her rather than walking away.”

Chris and Gwyneth married in 2003.
