Marianne Faithfull hospitalized after fall

Marianne Faithfull was hospitalized on Friday after falling and breaking her hip.

A statement on her Facebook page says that the singer and actress was on vacation on the Greek island of Rhodes last Friday when she fell. Marianne, 67, was taken to the hospital where it was discovered that her hip was broken. Surgeons operated, saying that the procedure was successful.

The orthopedic surgeon who did the surgery, Alexandros Pittas, said "Tomorrow, we will try to help her get up and we assess she needs to stay in hospital for about a week."

Faithfull recently announced the release of her next album, Give My Regards to London, for September. On it, she collaborates with a number of artists including Roger Waters, Nick Cave and Anna Calvi.
