Ed Sheeran stayed at Courteney Cox's house rent free.

The ginger-haired singer bunked down at Courteney's Malibu home for a few months while he worked in the States on new material.

Instead of any money changing hands, Ed made sure he was the perfect house guest by keeping everyone refreshed whenever they needed a drink.

"There was no rent but I made the bed and cups of tea and things like that," Ed smiled to British newspaper The Sun. “If you’re staying round your friends’ house, you should treat it like your own.

“Well, actually, that’s a lie - because I don’t make my own bed at home.”

While staying there Ed witnessed firsthand the flourishing relationship between former Friends star Courteney and Snow Patrol pianist Johnny McDaid.

The pair have been dating since last year, and there have recently been whispers about the possibility of marriage.
“Not sure about having to buy a hat yet, who knows?" Ed teased.

“But I will say I’ve never seen either of them happier. It’s great to see people you love in love.”

Ed, 23, is preparing to play a charity gig later tonight at one of London's most prestigious concert venues.

He'll take to the stage at London's Royal Albert Hall as part of this year's Teenage Cancer Trust gigs, kicking off a weeklong event that will feature some of the biggest names in music and comedy to raise money and awareness for the cause.

"I’m going to do an old album set. It will be the last ever gig I do that on. Fans don’t want to have two hours of new material, but there will be a couple of new ones," Ed disclosed.
