Kurt Cobain’s death is being re-investigated by police, according to a new report.
The Nirvana rocker was found with a gunshot wound to the head in 1994 at the age of 27. His death was ruled a suicide.
Nearly two decades later, KIRO 7 TV reports the King County Sheriff’s Office in Seattle has reopened the case.
The decision is said to have come after four rolls of film taken at the scene of the musician’s death were developed last month after sitting for years in an evidence vault.
Investigators told the news network the photos are a higher quality than the Polaroids originally used by police.
Authorities are not planning to release the new images.
Kurt’s body was found in his home near Lake Washington, Seattle.
The coroner’s office concluded he had injected a lethal dose of heroin before his passing.
A suspected suicide note was also found at the scene.
KIRO 7 reports a Seattle police department spokesperson last year said the department gets at least one request per week to reopen the investigation.
Rumours of a biopic about the late rocker's life have also been discussed.
Last year, his widow Courtney Love said the project could still happen.
"I know that Universal wants to make the film but I don’t know that I want to do it until… I would feel weird having a film made about me and Kurt unless I was actually acting myself. It would be too weird,” she told the Huffington Post in late July.
In addition to Courtney, Kurt also left behind their daughter Frances Bean, who is now 21.
