Victoria Beckham reportedly wants a "pink-themed party" for her birthday.

The fashion designer turns 40 on April 17 and is apparently keen to celebrate with a huge bash. She already has some ideas for it, but is concerned some might not like her choices.

"Victoria wants to make her 40th special. She'd like a pink-themed party with champagne fountains, although she's scared people will think it's tacky. But David [her husband] thinks she deserves a big do to celebrate all her achievements," an insider told British magazine Closer.

It's suggested Victoria is concentrating on the arrangement to distract her from the chatter about a Spice Girls reunion. This year marks the British girl group's 20th anniversary and Mel B has already said she would like to celebrate it somehow. There have been reports that the other band members Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton and Mel C would also be up for a reunion tour, although Victoria has already ruled it out.

"Victoria wants the girls to stop pressurising her - the whole thing winds her up and leaves her feeling tense and upset. Mel B can be quite forceful with her opinions, while Geri gets tearful," the insider said. "It's an emotional issue for all of them, so Victoria has asked her manager Simon Fuller to deal with it."

The fashion star was even receiving calls about the plans while she was on holiday with her family over the festive period. It's claimed David put his foot down and ordered his wife to focus on relaxing with their brood.

"David is fuming - he can see how the situation is upsetting Victoria and she's struggling to handle it all. It was ruining their holiday, so he told her manager to stop giving her updates and give her a break from it," the source said.

In December, Victoria admitted she realised her time with her old band was over in 2008. Although the five-piece performed at the London 2012 Olympic Games, the 39-year-old star knew she'd grown apart from her bandmates some time ago.

"I realised it was finished for good in 2008, when we reformed for our reunion tour. The day of the concert at Madison Square Gardens in New York, the other girls spent time relaxing in bed, shopping and in the gym before heading off to the sound check," she recalled to Paris Vogue. "I arrived with three kids in tow in a really tight dress because I’d been in meetings all day.

"I put my bags and the children down, I picked up the mic and I sung. It should have been the best moment of my life, but I just wanted to be elsewhere."
