Lewis Hamilton reportedly begged Nicole Scherzinger to spend Christmas with him.
The American star and Formula One driver split up in July after dating on and off since 2008.
Since then the pair have been spotted meeting up to reportedly discuss rekindling their romance.
While Nicole appears to be more guarded about giving it another go Lewis is thought to be keen to have his former flame spend the festive season with him in London.
"Lewis has been working hard to get back together with Nicole and has spent the past few weeks convincing her to spend Christmas with him in London, as well as having a break together at his home in Lake Geneva," a source told British magazine Closer.
Earlier this week Nicole was spotted arriving at a London airport before boarding a flight to Los Angeles.
This romantic getaway to the idyllic lake on the boarder of Switzerland and France has a lot resting on it. The main reason the couple broke up is reportedly down to Nicole's longing to have children with the sportsman. However, Lewis is thought to have had a different outlook on the future.
Insiders believe the 28-year-old driver has to prove himself to The X Factor UK judge now before he loses her for good.
"It's a make-or-break trip for them," the source added. "Nicole really wants to settle down and have a family, so it will be up to Lewis to prove this could become a reality next year."
