Mary J. Blige is Miguel's "biggest fan".
The singer is currently promoting her festive album A Mary Christmas.
Despite being a legend in the industry in her own right, the star also has people she looks up to.
"I love Kendrick and I love Drake. I think Drake is a really talented writer, other than him just being a rapper he's a great melody writer, he's a great singer," she gushed to UK magazine Pride.
"Then Miguel, I'm probably his biggest fan because he's just another great melody writer. I know Miguel, he's my friend and he's been on the road with me on one of my tours. When he first came out, I was one of the first people he toured with and that was based on us just seeing how incredible he was on his single. So we were like, 'Wow, let's just bring him out, he's amazing and such a beautiful person.' For that generation they're giving us good music. So I'm really impressed with them."
Mary's first album came out in 1992 and since then she's produced a string of hits.
She revealed what fans can expect from her in the New Year.
"I'm going to make the music Mary makes and right now I have another level that I'm going to," she promised.
"People are witnessing my voice doing different things, through this Christmas album people are saying, 'Wow - we've never heard you like this' or, 'This is new, this is different.' But as far as what I do, as Mary J. Blige we're going to do what we do but there's another level that we have to take it to."
