Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s team allegedly “misled” the man they’re suing for leaking a video of the rapper’s proposal.
YouTube founder Chad Hurley was named in a lawsuit filed by the couple last month amid allegations he uploaded footage of Kanye’s lavish October 21st marriage proposal at AT&T Park in San Francisco to the website without permission.
But in new legal filings obtained by TMZ, Chad claims he wasn’t told what he was signing when a confidentiality agreement was presented to him.
“Chad says... after the proposal, someone did approach him with a waiver and told him it was a release so they could use his image in a TV special... and he signed the doc without reading it,” the outlet claims.
Chad also reportedly posed for a photo with the signed document at the request of Kim and Kanye’s teams.
However, the internet entrepreneur is reportedly arguing he was “misled” and received no compensation for signing away his rights to the footage.
Kanye and Kim’s attorney Eric George previously claimed Chad “schemed to post the video on his new Internet venture, MixBit” in the couple’s initial lawsuit.
Although Chad sold YouTube to Google for $1.65 billion, the lawyer claimed he was “desperate” to illegally put out the couple’s proposal video so he could profit on a “second act” with his MixBit company.
Chad is reportedly asking the judge to throw out the case.
