Simon Cowell was tangled in an emergency medical scare at the weekend.

Photos of fire trucks and emergency medical responders outside of the 53-year-old television mogul's Beverly Hills, California home Sunday night sparked concerns someone at the residence was in trouble.

An unidentified person was seen being taken away from the scene by ambulance.

Extra now reports the incident did not directly involve the former X Factor judge "or anyone in his home" although someone at the residence appeared to come to a stranger's rescue.

Sources tell the outlet a random man walking down the street seemed to be in need of medical assistance and "someone in Cowell's home called EMTs".

The identity of the man and the status of his condition have not been released.

Simon has not commented on the matter.

The mogul, who is expecting his first child with girlfriend Lauren Silverman, took to his Twitter account last Wednesday revealing he was on his way back to Los Angeles and looking forward to expanding his family in more ways than one.

"I am going to get two dogs when I get back. Probably cairn terriers," he wrote, adding, "If any rescue shelters have some who need a home let me know."
