MOBO award winning hip-hop artist Akala is set to release new single ‘Lose Myself’ featuring Josh Osho on 20th May ahead of his fourth studio album, ‘The Thieves Banquet’, out on 27th May via Illa State Records.
Since the release of his critically acclaimed debut album ‘It’s Not A Rumour’ in 2005, Akala, (aka Kingslee Daley), has become one of Britain’s most revered and respected MCs.
‘Lose Myself’ will be the first single released off Akala’s upcoming album ‘The Thieves Banquet’ (the album title being inspired by Ngugi wa Thiong'o’s Novel ‘The Devil On The Cross’ ), recorded with a full live band featuring Cassell ‘The Beatmaker’ (The Streets) on drums and Eric Appapoulay (Plan B) on bass.
Featuring homegrown soulful talent Josh Osho, ‘Lose Myself’ fuses rap, rock and electro-punk to deliver a song with an electrifying hook and pensive lyricism, destined to be a favourite with radio and Akala’s core audience alike.
Akala will also be performing a one-off headline show at XOYO on 3rd June that will be the first opportunity to see Akala and his band showcase all the tracks from the forthcoming album ‘The Thieves Banquet’ live for the first time.
