Aoki picks best producer & best DJ for new release

Olmeca Tequila ’s BE THE DJ competition, where unsigned DJs were given the opportunity to remix Steve Aoki’s Come With Me track for official release ahead of his South African tour have announced their winners.
Upcoming DJ & Producer El Phonix beat entries from a plethora of nations and styles to win the Best Producer of the competition - with his remix now released on Aoki’s Come With Me EP.
El Phonix subsequently attended a DJ masterclass with 12 other finalists in Amsterdam as part of the competition hosted by Aoki in association with Olmeca Tequila. His was released as the official remix with Aoki’s Come With Me EP.
El Phonix real name Wilhelm Venter, added: “I’ve been given the opportunity to showcase my music to an international audience like never before. It’s a huge honour to be recognised by Steve Aoki”
Meanwhile Ian Credible won the overall competition, receiving an Ibiza residency, courtesy of Mixmag, and will support one of Aoki’s upcoming tour dates. Ian Credible real name Ian Morrison, is a 27-year-old qualified film sound engineer from Johnannesburg, South Africa. Morrison has been creating music since he was six years old and has held residencies across South Africa, including at News Cafe Bedfordview. On winning, Ian said: “This has been a dream come true – going head-to-head with the other students was tough but very important in helping me to showcase my skill. I want to entertain people and today has been a massive stepping stone in getting to where I want to be –bring on Ibiza!”.
