Spotify today reveals that hit song Gangnam Style topped the list of tracks that music lovers across the UK played as the clock struck midnight on New Year’s Eve.
After enjoying unprecedented global success since the release of his number one track in July, South Korean pop sensation Psy can now be content that his catchy pop song was the most streamed track as the bells chimed. Spotify users ensured Gangnam Style was the clear favourite with almost twice as many streams as the artists who took second and third place: Rihanna’s Diamonds was the next most played track at midnight with Swedish House Mafia’s Don’t You Worry Child following closely behind in third.
New talent James Arthur – fresh from his X-Factor win – also made the top ten with his hit single Impossible taking a respectable sixth place in the top list of tracks chosen by Spotify users to see in 2013.
