Warp co-curates Vasarely festival, Aix-en-Provence - June 3rd/ 4th/ 5th 2005.

On 3rd-5th June Warp return to the spectacular surroundings of the Vasarely Foundation in Aix en Provence for the third year running. Initiated by Warp Records and the Biomix organisation two years ago with a line-up of exclusively Warp artists and films, the festival was extended in 2004 to include other artists from all over Europe and the USA. In 2005, Warp present some of their most recent and upcoming talent and have co-curated a selection of invited labels and artists alongside. As well as live performances in the auditorium there will also be an outside stage utilising the superb backdrop of the Foundation's exterior. Also new this year is a dedicated audiovisual room filled with video and sonic installations, and a cinema located within the cathedral-like galleries themselves.

Parisian electrofunk outfit Chok Rock play live, and newest Warp signing French electronic wunderkind Jackson previews his forthcoming album Smash. Jedi Knights/Reload legend Mark Pritchard presents his recent Harmonic33 project in the suitably space-age surroundings of the Foundation. Mark recently contributed low-end production science to Beans' last album, who joins him for a live show on the Sunday night.

Warp Films have curated a one-hour selection of short films that includes Chris Cunningham's Rubber Johnny, plus work from Lynne Ramsay, Rob Hardy (the European premiere of Scene 26) and more tba. Chris Cunningham also treats us to one of his unique DJ sets on the Sunday. Warp and Creative Review presents the premiere of the 10 winning films from the recent music video competition they ran. Filmmakers were invited to put together a piece of motion graphics for an unreleased Warp track from Jimmy Edgar, Plaid, Gravenhurst, Mira Calix and Home Video. Accidental Records are in charge on Saturday, with Mara Carlyle and Brooks live and label boss himself Matthew Herbert rounding off the night, while other highlights of the weekend are very rare live shows from Marco Passarani, Fennesz, Thomas Brinkmann, electro-acoustic pioneer (and local resident) Bernard Parmegiani, Francois Kevorkian playing a techno/dub live set, and Carl Craig (laptop/DJ) plus a very special guest!
