Usher has reportedly pulled out of an awards show performance.

The R&B star’s 11-year-old stepson Kyle Glover is in a critical condition in an Atlanta hospital following a Jet Ski accident over the weekend. Kyle is the son of Usher’s ex-wife Tameka Foster and despite their acrimonious divorce he has stayed close to the boy.

Usher was slated to appear at the ESPY Awards – which honour sports stars – tonight but according to New York Post he won’t be attending.

“Usher was… scheduled to appear, sources say, but cancelled following his 11-year-old stepson Kyle’s hospitalisation from a jet-ski accident,” reports the publication.

It’s thought supermodel Bar Refaeli, Zooey Deschanel and Connie Britton will be at the ceremony, which is being staged at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.

No official information has been released about Kyle’s condition, although there have been unconfirmed reports he has been declared brain dead.

Usher has reportedly done his best to be there for his ex-wife as she copes with the situation.

“Tameka and Usher don’t get along, but in this circumstance Usher is coming to her side. Usher practically raised Kyle as his own. He’s known him for seven years. It is so sad what happened,” a source recently said.

The former couple have two young sons together.
