Simon Cowell should “build a fortress around [his] house” after finding a brick-wielding intruder in his home.

The TV mogul was left shaken at the weekend when he found a female fan in his exclusive West London home. Simon’s on-site security team arrived to detain the woman on Saturday evening before police came to arrest her.

Simon’s long-time friend and ex-girlfriend Sinitta says the star should seriously consider ramping up his security measures.

"Simon has to come to terms with looking after himself properly now he's reached that level of fame. It's a scary thing. Hopefully the intruder didn't want to harm him but they could have. If it had been someone else with an obsession they could have killed him,” she told British newspaper The Sun.

"I'm trying to persuade him to move or build a fortress around the house. It was alarming for him, it was like a nightmare. It can't happen again."

Sinitta says she has spoken to Simon since the alarming incident and the star has promised to tighten his personal security. The former songstress thinks there is no room for error or complacency when it comes to his safety.

“He ought to move now so he doesn't have to worry but he has spent a fortune renovating his home, and he's been renovating it for so long. He's finally got it how he wants it so it would be a shame to move,” she said.

"I don't know if he would be able to get planning permission for huge gates and he probably wouldn't like that either. Personally, I got upset with his security. For me, where were they?"

Reports emerged that the woman was found in the star’s bathroom armed with a brick after he rushed to investigate when he heard a noise. When armed police were called to Simon’s home, she was found hiding on a shelf in the TV personality’s wardrobe.

Leanne Zaloumis, 29, of South East London, appeared at West London Magistrates Court earlier this week and has been remanded in custody until her hearing in June.

She was remanded in custody until June, and only spoke in court to confirm personal details.
