R.E.M. will wrap up their career with a career spanning 2-CD set covering their time at both I.R.S. and Warner Brothers Records. Part Lies, Part Heart, Part Truth, Part Garbage: 1982-2011 will be released on November 15.
Included are three new songs, including the first single We All Go Back to Where We Belong which will be released on October 18. The other new tracks, recorded this summer with producer Jacknife Lee, a A Month of Sundays and Hallelujah.
Mike Mills said of the set "“Working through our music and memories from over three decades was a hell of a journey. We realized that these songs seemed to draw a natural line under the last 31 years of our working together.”
Notable on the song selection is that four songs are included from Green and Automatic For the People, but only one track from Monster which was one of the the band's only number 1 albums. Songs missing that were top forty hits for the group include Drive from Automatic for the People and Bang and Blame from Monster.
