Lady Gaga’s MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) performance will be “fearless”.
The eccentric singer was thrilled to be asked to open the ceremony, which will be staged in Los Angeles on Sunday. She’s remained tight-lipped about what she has in store, and her creative director Laurieann Gibson is also refusing to divulge any details. She did hint Gaga will be typically flamboyant when she takes to the stage though.
“I hope that people take the fearlessness away. The notion that you don't have to follow what is popular and that you can constantly take the opportunity and create a new understanding of music and performing,” Laurieann told MTV.
The famed choreographer added that whatever Gaga decides to do it’ll be special. She’s hoping the singer shows off her vocals to their best and knows the performance will be extra special.
“It could mean standing under one spotlight,” she mused. “It could mean tons of camels and belly-dancing girls. I don't know. One is not necessarily better than the other. But it is about the artist. It's about 'Who's the artist?' So in that one moment, you have to take it and give it all you can.”
Gaga recently admitted her fans – who she calls her Little Monsters – were at the forefront of her mind when planning her VMAs performance. She’s confident they’ll be pleased with what she’s come up with.
“It will be a continuation of everything I've been doing, and it will be exactly what they want," the star explained. "I'm pretty good at knowing what my fans want me to do."
