The first single from the upcoming Note of Hope Woody Guthrie salute is Jackson Browne and Rob Wasserman's You Know the Night which will be released to radio on August 22. The album features songs partially written by Guthrie and finished by artists like Lou Reed, Ani DiFranco, Pete Seeger, Van Dyke Parks and Tom Morello. The full version of the song is 15 minutes with the radio edit at four minutes.
Dave Mustaine has said he wants to form a Megadeth/Metallica supergroup, telling Texas radio station 97.1 The Eagle Rocks that "I’ve talked to Lars [Ulrich] and James [Hetfield] about me and David [Ellefson, Megadeth bassist] doing a supergroup record with Lars and James. Well, James said ‘no,’ but it’s still kind of out there in the air. I’m gonna keep hammering on him. It’s on my bucket list."
Slash will reunite with some of his Guns N' Roses bandmates for a benefit show in New York on September 13. Appearing along with the guitarist will be Duff McKagan, Matt Sorum, Gilby Clark and Wayne Kramer of the MC5.
Big Country is about to release their first single in twelve years. Another Country is produced by Steve Lillywhite and will be out on August 29 in both CD and digital formats.
