Empire Of The Sun frontman Luke Steele writes for Beyonce’s new album and gets his band back in action.
The Empire Of The Sun twitter feed confirmed yesterday that Steele was a co-writer on the smooooth R&B track ‘Rather Die Young’ for Beyonce’s fourth album 4, which is out at the end of the week.
But it’s also worth noting that the Sleepy Jackson and Empire Of The Sun mastermind also guested on Jay-Z’s Blueprint 3 album (apparently after Jay heard ‘Walking On A Dream’ on Entourage).
Steele also sang on breakthrough UK rapper Tinie Tempah’s double-platinum, BRIT Award-winning Disc-Overy album.
In the meantime, Nick Littlemore has worked on US house diva Wynter Gordon’s album and has just kicked off a Radio City Music Hall show he composed for Cirque De Soleil.
While Empire Of The Sun have been quiet about the follow-up to their monster 2008 debut Walking On A Dream, they just joined fellow Oz electro act Miami Horror, as well as Passion Pit, Big Boi, Neon Indian, Girl Talk and more at New York’s Governor’s Ball festival.
They also play UK’s Big Chill festival and two German shows in August, and the Austin City Limits festival in Texas in September.
This is following live performances of a new stageshow (silver and blue costumes, according to reviews) in Mexico, at Coachella in California, and at Ultra Music in Florida in March and April.
Hopefully this means we’ll hear another album soon.
